Peggy Winnett lives in retirement in Leeds, Ma (Hampshire Co.). She has been delighted to find herself in an active writing community, as it stimulates her own late stirrings in that direction.
Is This the New Normal?
I seem to have disappeared
I can’t find myself anywhere
I’ve looked in all the usual places
But I’m nowhere to be found
At the same time
You have all but disappeared
You are nothing but a voice
On the end of the phone
Or a distorted version of yourself
On a screen
Have we so badly disturbed the laws of nature
That we’ve made human-to-human contact
Take these abbreviated forms?
Is this the new normal?
