How to nail your next public reading

Whether your next reading is in-person or virtual, an open mic, a journal launch, or a longer feature, join Michael Favala Goldman for a practical guide to mastering techniques that connect you with your text and with your audience in your own unique and memorable way. We will learn about presence, pacing, physical space and tech challenges, ideating, and dealing with nervousness. Participants will have the chance to try out what they learn.

Workshop facilitator Michael Favala Goldman has performed his writing and his music too many times to count, hosted by venues and organizations around the US and Denmark. Author of ten volumes of poetry and translator of eighteen works of Danish literature, Michael has been running poetry critique groups for over eight years as a collaboration between Straw Dog Writers and the Northampton Center for the Arts. His latest publications include the translation of Global Sex – what sex workers know about love and capitalism, and his new and selected poetry compilation, No One I’ve Heard Of.
