Writing for Children Workshop with Lesléa Newman & Jane Yolen

Jane Yolen and Lesléa Newman will walk us through the definition and limits of the genre; the parameters of emotion/motion; the range of topics; subgenres without picture books; to rhyme or not to rhyme; how much is too much/too little; and what are the next steps after you have a solid manuscript. They will read to us from their work and provide us with the opportunity to try our hand at writing a picture book, using prompts that they will provide. We will have the chance to share and give feedback to the writing.
