They have two grown daughters\, Kate and Liza. Trish is a poet\, arts journalist\, and photographer. She has covered poetry and the arts for the award-winning newspaper\, The Recorder\, reviewed fiction for the Women’s Review of Books\, and has written for other publications including Provincetown Arts and Edible Pioneer Valley. Her 2014 book Dune Shack\, a memoir in text and photos\, chronicles a two-week residency in the wild dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Her Slate Roof chapbook\, Walk Through Paradise Backwards\, was reissued in 2018. \nJanet MacFadyen lives in Shutesbury with her husband\, the photographer Stephen Schmidt. She is the author of five works of poetry\, most recently Adrift in the House of Rocks\, (forthcoming from New Feral Press 2019)\, Waiting to Be Born (Dos Madres Press 2017)\, and In the Provincelands (Slate Roof Press chapbook\, 2012). Her work has been nominated for the Forward Prize (UK) and two Pushcarts. It has also been anthologized in 50/50: Poems and Translations by Women over 50\, and has appeared in The Atlanta Review\, Crannóg\, The Malahat Review\, Poetry\, and elsewhere. She has been a writing fellow at the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center and is the managing editor of Slate Roof Press.

DESCRIPTION:What Happens When Your Character Calls 911? \nOn Sunday\, April 7\, from 10 a.m. to noon\, author Jacqueline Sheehan and Detective Sergeant Vic Caputo present an overview of what happens when your character calls 911. This introductory program is designed to help writers increase your understanding of law enforcement and forensics\, with the overall eye on adding authenticity to your fiction. If the police become part of your narrative (as they must if something goes wrong in the lives of the characters) then it is essential to understand contemporary policing in order to create full characters. \nCrime scenes always tell a story\, which shows up as physical evidence\, but also in behavioral clues. The major purpose of the criminal investigation is to gather information\, and Detective Sergeant Vic Caputo will share what might happen in an investigation. We will use several fictional case studies as examples. The workshop will take place at the Northampton Center for the Arts. \nREGISTER HERE \nDetective Sergeant Victor Caputo has worked in Law Enforcement since 2001 and began working for the Northampton Police Department in 2004. In 2005\, he took a Military Leave of Absence to serve with the US Marines in Iraq as a Provisional Military Police Officer\, returning in 2006. He has served as a Bike Patrol Officer\, Field Training Officer\, Sexual Assault Investigator\, Patrol Supervisor and was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2015. He is a certified instructor in the areas of Defensive Tactics and Firearms and holds masters degrees in Public Administration and Criminal Justice. He grew up in Williamsburg and still resides there with his wife\, Luann and daughter Julia. His favorite book is The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. \n  \n \nJacqueline Sheehan is a New York Times Bestselling author and a psychologist. \nShe is the author of six novels\, writes NPR commentaries\, and essays including the New York Times column\, Modern Love. She is one of the founders and past president of Straw Dog Writers Guild. You can find her at Writer’s Night Out on the first Tuesday evening of the month\, at The Basement in Northampton. The book is a resource for families and teachers as they help children move from isolation to interaction. \nMarion is now a Special Education consultant and workshop presenter. Please: Rude Limericks and Other Crimes Against Literature\, was a self-published volume he sold after the show at comedy clubs.  His second\, was a self-published chapbook\, Shakespeare’s Marijuana and Other Poems the Authorities Don’t Want You to Read.\nThe Joke’s on Me\, was published in January 2018 by White Violet Press\, isn’t exactly his first book\, but it kind of is\, depending on how you define things.\nMany of the journals that have published his poems are identified with so-called New Formalism\, a school of poetry about which he has mixed feelings.\nIn addition to his many print and online magazine appearances\, he has poems in The Great American Wise Ass Poetry Anthology\, Love Affairs at the Villa Nelle\, and New York City Haiku\, among other collections. \n

Through movement meditation\, free writing\, and open-hearted sharing\, participants can offer and receive practical everyday skills that are designed to transform fear and adversity into courage and hope. His first full-length collection of poems is Break Every String\,  (Hedgerow Books\, 2016.)   www.joshuamichaelstewart.com \n  \nPamela Stewart (known as Jody) is a true “boomer” and New England born and bred.  She took up writing in grade school because she couldn’t draw.   She received a BA from Goddard’s ADP Program and an MFA (sort of) from University of Iowa.  She’s taught creative writing at several universities including ASU\, University of Arizona\, UC Irvine\, and University of Houston.  In 1982 she received a Guggenheim and traveled to Cornwall in the UK where she returned to live for 7 years. Jody came back to western Massachusetts in 1990 and in 1994 she\, and her then husband\, moved to a farm at the edge of Hawley. Over the years she’s published in a number of magazines\, received 3 Pushcart publications\, and is the author of 6 full-length books of poems: The St. Vlas Elegies (L’Epervier press\, 1977)\, Cascades (L’Epervier Press\, 1979)\, Nightblind (Ion Books\, 1985)\, Infrequent Mysteries (Alice James Books\, 1991)\, The Red Window  (Univ. of Georgia Press\, 1997)\, and Ghost Farm (Pleasure Boat Studio\, 2010.) A chapbook\, Just Visiting\, was published by Grey Suit Editions\, London\, 2014. Jody continues to live on the farm with 3 dogs\, a number of elderly sheep\, a rescued race horse\, a pudgy donkey\,  a couple of goats\, and some old pigs and birds. At some point she intends to tackle a “new and selected” if the dogs let her. \n  \n  \n  \n
